WHO’S NEWS: Cresa hires new principal, Denholtz announces new director of leasing

Barry Lewen has joined Cresa as a principal of the New York office.
Lewen has specialized in tenant representation assignments, commercial property leasing and strategic opportunity development for over 30 years.
Among the many clients with whom Lewen has worked are General Electric Investments, New York University, Metropolitan Life Insurance, the Royal Bank of Scotland and CBS’ Outdoor Division.
Prior to joining Cresa, Lewen served as Executive Managing Director for Coldwell Banker Commercial Advisors. He has held senior positions for a number of brokerage firms including Grubb & Ellis, Jones Lang LaSalle, Edward S. Gordon Company and Helmsley Spear, Inc.
At Monday Properties and B.C. Lewen Realty, Lewen learned all aspects of asset management from an owner’s perspective He holds a bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University.

Denholtz Associates announced the promotion of Christina Jordan to Director of Leasing.
Jordan joined Denholtz Associates in 2010 as a Tenant Relations Co-ordinator and later received a promotion to Leasing Associate.
Since joining the firm, she has been an integral part of the leasing team and has enabled Denholtz Associates to execute its multi-tenant leasing strategy throughout four million s/f portfolio of office, industrial and flex buildings.
In her new role, Jordan will be responsible for the administration, negotiation, tracking and execution of leases throughout the Denholtz portfolio. She will also take a larger role in overseeing Denholtz Associates’ leasing strategy and helping to streamline the firm’s leasing operations throughout its multi-state investment portfolio.
Prior to joining Denholtz Associates, Jordan served as Creative Marketing Manager for Titan Student Communities. She is a graduate of Seton Hall University.

U.S. Bank has welcomed Kim McKee as Commercial Real Estate (CRE) market manager.
McKee is responsible for Commercial Real Estate clients in the greater New York City area. She will build out a New York City CRE team to support growth in the market.
The addition of the first U.S. Bank market manager in New York City represents expansion of the Commercial Real Estate East Region and Corporate & Commercial Banking business in New York City.
McKee is an experienced commercial real estate leader with a track record as an underwriter, individual producer and manager.
Previously, she worked with Wells Fargo Commercial Real Estate as a senior vice president leading a team responsible for a portfolio in the New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania regions.
Earlier in her career, she worked for Bank of America in New York City where she originated, structured and closed commercial real estate loans.
McKee earned a B.S. degree in finance from The College of New Jersey and J.D. degree from the Seton Hall University School of Law.

FTI Consulting announced that Laura Jackson, a Managing Director in the Business Tax Advisory practice within the firm’s Real Estate & Infrastructure industry group, has been honored by the 2018 New Jersey State Governor’s Jefferson Awards.
Jackson was recognised for her extraordinary contributions to Rebuilding Together NYC, a nonprofit organization that promotes safe and healthy housing throughout New York City.
The Jefferson Awards is the nation’s oldest recognition program for volunteer and public service and is the official recognition program of the U.S. Senate. The New Jersey State Governor’s Jefferson Awards is the local program for The Jefferson Awards and serves as the official recognition of the Governor’s Council on Volunteerism.
Jackson has been active on Rebuilding Together NYC’s board since 2013, when she joined as Treasurer of the Executive Committee. She currently serves on the board as Vice President, chairs the Fund Development Committee, co-founded and co-chairs the annual Coming Home Gala and is a member of the Audit Committee.
She also co-founded the annual She Builds event, a women-in-real-estate-led initiative designed to bring visibility to the women, children and families in New York City who comprise most of the homeless population, yet are often excluded from narrative around the issue.
In addition, Jackson has played a significant role in developing relationships and funds for the organization, which provides free home repairs and community revitalization for low-income residents and neighborhoods.
Jackson specializes in the REIT and partnership area of real estate taxation. She developed FTI Consulting’s REIT due diligence tax group, which now serves numerous public and private REITs.
Jackson graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in business administration from Monmouth University and obtained an M.S. in taxation from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Avison Young has hired Rich M. Hillgardner Jr. as a new Portfolio Manager, based in the firm’s Manhattan office.
Hillgardner brings over 20 years of related property management experience to his new position and will be responsible for supporting an Avison Young portfolio of over two million square feet, consisting of multi-family, office, retail, and industrial assets.
This latest hire is also another component of the recent substantial Avison Young New York staff expansion that includes over 25 new hires since the beginning of 2018.
Previously, Hillgardner served as Senior Property Manager for Cushman & Wakefield in both their New York and Stamford, CT offices for nearly two decades.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Real Estate from Florida State University and is LEED AP Certified by the US Green Building Council.

Avison Young announced that Tula Voutieros has earned the title of Senior Research Analyst.
Voutieros is Avison Young’s Research and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Analyst and has over 20 years of research and consultative experience across multiple industry sectors.
As Senior Research Analyst, Voutieros will oversee regional market research and reporting and collaborate on Avison Young topical reports.
Prior to joining Avison Young, Voutieros worked for 15 years as a Research and GIS lead and Senior Consultant for Global Workplace Solutions (a division of Johnson Controls acquired by CBRE in 2015).

Savanna announced that its General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer Valerie Kitay was named General Counsel of the Year at Lexology Global’s 12th annual Global Counsel Awards.
The award recognizes the best in-house lawyers worldwide across the full spectrum of in-house responsibilities.
Kitay joined Savanna as General Counsel in 2015. She is responsible for providing and supervising all of Savanna’s legal activities. She provides legal support and guidance with respect to fundraising, investor relations and corporate governance matters and serves as the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer.
To identify the winners, the research team at Lexology conducted in-depth analysis of in-house lawyers and legal departments worldwide, receiving more than 4,000 nominations globally.

Syska Hennessy Group has appointed Brian Nguyen, RCDD and Larry Werner as supervising consultant/associate partner and senior associate, respectively.
Both join Syska’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) practice and the firm’s New York City headquarters.
Brian Nguyen comes to Syska from AKF Group, where he served as a senior project manager, specializing in information technology, distributed antenna systems, audio visual, and security infrastructure.
During his 14-year tenure there, he worked on projects for NYU Langone/Brooklyn Health, New York Presbyterian, the Mayo Clinic, PwC, Yale University, Deutsche Bank, and many more.

Larry Werner is an ICT designer with more than 30 years of experience that encompasses every aspect of the project life cycle.
Before joining Syska, he worked at The Clarient Group. His project experience includes One World Trade Center, 4 World Trade Center, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the United States Postal Service’s general mail facility in Brooklyn, One57, the Park Hyatt, and Columbia University Business School, to name a few examples.
In their new roles, Nguyen and Werner will expand and deepen client relationships in the New York and New Jersey area, and help Syska meet the ambitious growth goals established in its Vision 2025 strategy.
Nguyen holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering technology from Oklahoma State University School of Engineering and an A.S. in computer-aided drafting from Northeastern Oklahoma State A&M College.
Werner studied electrical engineering at SUNY Stony Brook.
