WHO’S NEWS: Commercial appointments and promotions

Rockwood Capital, LLC, a private real estate investment management firm, announced that Peter Falco, Senior Managing Partner and a co-founder, will transition to the role of Senior Strategic Advisor beginning in January 2018.

Consistent with the firm’s succession planning, Walter Schmidt, Senior Managing Partner and a co-founder, Tyson Skillings, Managing Partner, and Peter Kaye, Managing Partner, the other current members of the firm’s Management Committee, will remain in their current management roles with the continued support of the firm’s other partners: Bob Gray, a co-founder, David Becker, Tony Lariño and David Streicher.

Schmidt, Skillings and Kaye have been with Rockwood, including its predecessors, for 31, 15, and 15 years, respectively.
In addition to firm management, Falco has held leadership positions in client strategies, portfolio management and debt capital markets.

In his new role, he will advise the firm with respect to client strategies, trends in global capital flows and policy initiatives that impact domestic real estate investment.

Skillings will assume oversight of the client outreach efforts previously coordinated by Falco.

As part of the firm’s ongoing strategic planning, Rockwood has hired Alexia Gottschalch as a Managing Director and Global Head of Client Strategy.

Gottschalch comes to Rockwood from J.P. Morgan Asset Management – Global Real Assets, where she was Head of Business Development and Client Strategy, Real Estate Americas.

Prior to that, Gottschalch held senior positions with Grosvenor, PGIM, Tishman Speyer and ING.

L&L Holding Company has appointed Dermot J. Gallagher to serve as the MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) superintendent of 425 Park Avenue, the 47-story tower that is currently being constructed in the heart of the Plaza District.

Gallagher will provide executive support and work with the general contractor to ensure the timely and quality completion of the project, which is slated to open in 2019.

In addition, he will also oversee code compliance of all building equipment/systems and general building infrastructure.
Gallagher, reporting to Executive Vice President William Potts, comes to L&L with nearly three decades of experience in the engineering, real estate and construction industries.

Prior to L&L, he worked as the MEP lead for the $2 billion renovation of the Citi’s 388-390 Greenwich Street campus. Before that, he served at Cushman & Wakefield as Director of Engineering, where he established the operations and maintenance plan for two million square feet of Port Authority facilities located within the 16-acre World Trade Center site.
Gallagher received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Polytechnic University. He is a licensed New York State Professional Engineer.

NAI James E. Hanson announced that John J. Koch (LJ) has joined its Parsippany office as a sales associate.

Koch will work with senior vice president Barry Cohorsky, SIOR. LJ will focus on both sales and leasing in the Morris County and the overall northern New Jersey marketplace with a concentration in the industrial/warehouse arena.

Prior to joining NAI Hanson, Koch was a Sales Associate with Newmark Associates where he specialized in investments, land development and industrial sales and leasing.

Koch is also an owner and operator of “Luc’s Fajita Hut” a successful food truck business.

L&L Holding Company has appointed Emmett P. Croker as Asset Manager Analyst.

In his new role, he will focus on reviewing and analyzing financial reports for L&L’s commercial office buildings, including 114 Fifth Avenue, 425 Park Avenue and 600 Third Avenue.

Prior to joining L&L, Croker was a Senior Consultant with Altus Group, where he was responsible for valuation management advisory across multiple asset classes for institutional investors. He began his career as a Portfolio Analyst with GE Capital Real Estate.

The addition of Croker to L&L continues the hiring spree at the company in recent months. Over the last year, the company has hired seven full-time employees, including Robert Israel, Domenick DiNizo and Elena Zaika to its 1568 Broadway development team; David Seth Orowitz as Senior Vice President of Development; Dermot J. Gallagher as MEP superintendent at 425 Park Avenue; and Adam Metzger and Alex O’Connor in the company’s acquisitions department.

Croker is a graduate of Providence College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing with a concentration in Finance.

The retail and office leasing divisions at Lee & Associates NYC LLC has hired five young brokers whose talent will be honed by their managers in an elite mentorship program.

The KT Group, headed by Mark Kapnick and Greg Tannor, welcomed Mike Watson who will assist the group with retail leasing.

Watson was previously an independent contractor and consultant for the oil and gas industry based in Dallas and Houston.
John Cannon has added Sergio Turaev to his team, specializing in office leasing. Turaev’s background is in retail sales, most recently at Allen Edmonds where he was responsible for generating over $7.5 million in sales.

Rounding out the group, Dennis Someck and Justin Myers have added Aidan Velle, Alexander Pisacane, and Conor Krup to their office leasing team.

Velle is an Upper West Side native whose professional background has included sales in the energy and family healthcare industries.

Pisacane comes from a technology-based sales background. He previously worked for Yelp, where he served as an account executive.

Krup has worked as a sales manager at the Krowne Metal Corporation, and recently completed NYU’s Real Estate Acquisition and Ownership course.

Romer Debbas LLP announced that associate attorney Michael R. Feldman, Esq. has been promoted to partner and co-manager in the firm’s residential real estate department.

Feldman, who concentrates his practice on representing buyers, sellers and lending institutions in residential and commercial real estate transactions, is involved in all aspects of the firm’s transactional real estate practice and is well versed in the areas of contract negotiation and due diligence.

Feldman graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2005 with a bachelor of arts degree in political science and was further recognized for academic excellence after being inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Golden Key International Honour Society.

He later attended Seton Hall University School of Law located in Newark, New Jersey where he graduated with a J.D. degree in 2008.

Feldman is a member of both the New York State Bar Association and New Jersey State Bar Association.

Stroock announced the promotion of several lawyers to partner and special counsel effective January 1.
The elevated lawyersare resident in the firm’s New York, Los Angeles and Miami offices. The following lawyers have been promoted to partner:

Trevor T. Adler (Real Estate, New York): Trevor Adler joined Stroock as a summer associate and has practiced at the firm for more than eight years.

He assists owners and developers to operate and derive value from their buildings through commercial leases and other real estate transactions.

He earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School and his B.A. and M.A. from Johns Hopkins University.

E. Gail Suchman (Environmental Law, New York): Gail Suchman has more than 25 years of experience in serving clients’ environmental and energy law.

Shejoined Stroock in 2007 after spending more than 10 years as an assistant attorney general in the Environmental Protection Bureau and serving three years as regional director for the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. She earned her J.D. from Boston College Law School and her B.S. from Northwestern University.

Nicole S. De Bare (Real Estate, New York) wasa promoted to special counsel.

She earned her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and her B.A., cum laude, from the State University of New York, Binghamton.
