WHO’S NEWS: Commercial hires and promotions

JRT Realty Group announced that the firm has made a significant move to further enhance its platform, retaining industry veteran Mark Jaccom as Vice Chairman.

One of the industry’s leading real estate executives for almost 40 years, Jaccom will focus on expanding JRT’s tenant representation practice both locally and globally. Also coming to JRT are former NY Giant great Howard Cross as Executive Managing Director, Peter Brestovan as Senior Managing Director, Jonathan Ortiz as Managing Director, and Kevin Kennelly as Associate. They all join from Cresa Partners, where for the last five years Jaccom was the President & Managing Principal in New York.

Known as a strong business leader and new business generator, throughout his career Jaccom has arranged millions of square feet of leasing on behalf of numerous corporate tenants, including Colgate-Palmolive, Charles Schwab, Oppenheimer Funds, Bank United, Citibank, Willis, GFK, Cigna, Aetna Insurance, Affinity Healthplan, YearUp, Tzell Travel, CMP Publications, Wiley & Sons and Robert A.M. Stern, among others.

Jaccom was also previously CEO of Colliers in New York City, and Vice Chairman & Principal of Studley.

Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF) announced the hiring of Thomas Bogle, a 25-year industry veteran. Bogle will join existing partners, Vice Chairmen Greg Katz and Tim Capps, in the creation of NGKF’s Critical Transactions Group. This cross-market team will work with large, complex transactions, providing counsel and advice to some of the firm’s largest clients. Bogle will be based in Atlanta with a frequent presence in New York City.

Prior to joining NGKF, Bogle was a Partner with EY and spent over two decades with real estate firms including CBRE, JLL and Savills Studley. Demonstrating significant leadership qualities and a consultancy approach, he has contributed to the growth of the real estate services industry since the early 1990s. Bogle has been directly involved in over $2.5 billion in real estate contracts and transactions across North America and Europe.

L&L Holding Company, a preeminent New York City commercial real estate owner and developer, announced today that it has appointed Adam Metzger as Vice President of Acquisitions, effective immediately.

Metzger (31) will join L&L’s acquisitions team headed by Senior Managing Director of Acquisitions, Yong W. Cho. In his new post, Metzger will focus on sourcing and evaluating new investment opportunities for L&L, which currently owns and operates a Manhattan commercial portfolio of more than six million square feet. In addition, he will be part of the L&L team that handles debt and equity capital raises and executes renovation and leasing plans for all new acquisitions.

Metzger comes to L&L after spending the past year as an independent real estate advisor. Prior to that, he served at Normandy Real Estate Partners for six years, including three years as Vice President of Acquisitions & Investments, where he focused on value-add investments throughout the East Coast. Previously, he worked on M&A advisory and capital raising in the Real Estate Investment Banking group at Deutsche Bank.

The addition of Metzger to L&L further expands the company’s capabilities and expertise in all phases of acquisition, development and leasing.

A graduate of Yale University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics, Metzger is a founding member and served on the executive board of Emerging Professionals in Real Estate (EmPiRE).

NAI James E. Hanson, a leading New Jersey-based full service commercial real estate firm, announces that Brian Donahue will join its Hackensack office as a Sales Associate. Donahue will work with NAI Hanson’s Tom Vetter, SIOR, and Jeff DeMagistris, SIOR, on sales and leasing focusing on the Meadowlands industrial market.

Prior to joining NAI Hanson, Donahue was a Commodities Trade Support Associate with Morgan Stanley in Purchase, N.Y. where he handled a variety of responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation of several commodities trading desks. Previously, he has also held positions with New York Life Insurance Company and Allstate Insurance Company.

Donahue holds a B.S. in Finance with a minor in Leadership Studies from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland in College Park, M.D. He resides in Tuxedo, N.Y.

Daniel Rodriguez Sains has joined Buchbinder & Warren Realty Group LLC, where he focuses on both office and retail leasing.

He brings more than 10 years of experience in landlord and tenant representation to the firm.
A native of New York City, Sains attended Trinity High School on the Upper West Side and went on to earn a BA in history from Boston College.

He began his real estate career in 2007 with CBRE, servicing institutional landlords in Manhattan and representing tenants in a mix of industries including media, publishing, entertainment, financial services, and non-profits for their office-occupancy needs.

On the retail end, Sains has established a niche in the restaurant/food & beverage sector, supporting both landlords and operators in consummating complicated leasing transactions.
He is a co-founder and Vice President of the Latin-American Commercial Real Estate Association, where he leads a mentorship program on careers in real estate for immigrant students in NYC.

Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF) announced that respected industry veteran Norm LeZotte, MAI has joined its newly launched Valuation & Advisory practice to lead the Senior Housing & Healthcare practice as senior managing director. He and a team of highly specialized valuation and advisory professionals will form the nucleus of this new sub-service line.

For the past seven years, LeZotte served as president of Salus Valuation Group Inc., a highly-specialized firm focused solely on senior housing and healthcare properties across the nation. He has been dedicated to this industry for the past 20 years, and is one of the most trusted and well-respected valuation professionals in the business. LeZotte has held previous positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Gulf Atlantic Valuation Services and Cushman & Wakefield.

Romer Debbas LLP., a New York City-based boutique law firm specializing in commercial and residential real estate transactions, announced attorney Christian G. Zebicoff joined the firm as a partner.
In his new position, Mr. Zebicoff will co-manage the firm’s trust and estates, estate planning and elder law practice group. He will assist clients and their families with the preparation of their wills and trusts and advise them on more complex tax planning techniques and long-term care and Medicaid planning issues.

Mr. Zebicoff, who previously worked at Jones Morrison LLP as partner, also has substantial experience representing commercial and not-for-profit entities. In addition, he is an experienced real estate attorney, having represented buyers and sellers of single family residences, co-ops, condominiums and townhouses in New York City and surrounding areas. He has valuable experience related to the zoning and planning issues that arise in connection with real estate transactions.

During his prestigious 23-year law career, Mr. Zebicoff has litigated many Surrogates Court matters, including contested probate, accounting and miscellaneous proceedings in all counties. He also regularly presents on the topic of estate planning and health care decision making to various professional and community organizations.

Mr. Zebicoff received his law degree from Fordham University School of Law in 1993 and a bachelor of arts degree in history from Boston College in 1988.

Thomas Vetter, SIOR, and Jeffrey DeMagistris, SIOR, of NAI James E. Hanson were the recent recipients of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors®’ (SIOR) 2016 Transaction Award for Largest Dollar Volume Transaction in the Member to Member Redevelopment category for their efforts on the $12,490,720 sale of a 53,152 -square-foot fulfillment center in Carlstadt, N.J. The SIOR Transaction Awards honor SIOR members who have completed significant transactions in several categories within the award year.
Vetter and DeMagistris represented Sitex Group in the sale of the newly constructed industrial building located at One Palmer Terrace in Carlstadt, N.J. to Loftex Logistics, a Chinese textile company.

Vetter and DeMagistris received their SIOR designations in August 2013. Both Vetter and DeMagistris have been with NAI James E. Hanson for 18 years and are currently Senior Vice Presidents and members of the NAI James. E. Hanson Industrial Brokerage Council with a special focus on the New Jersey Meadowlands Market. They join eight other brokers at NAI James E. Hanson who hold the prestigious SIOR designation.

He comes to the firm with over 20 years of experience handling complex corporate and real estate transactions and creating lucrative strategic opportunities.

Previously Mr. Simon was the co-founding and co-managing partner of Simon, Eisenberg & Baum, LLP (“SEB”). SEB was a full service law firm that focused on real estate, corporate, trust and estates, litigation and entertainment matters that had offices in New York City, New Jersey, Florida, California and Switzerland.

Mr. Simon received his law degree from St. John’s University School of Law, JD in 1995 and a bachelor of arts degree from Brooklyn College in 1991. Real estate firm DDG announced the appointment of Michael Ferry as Chief Operating Officer. In his new role, Mr. Ferry will oversee strategy implementation and execution across DDG’s business platforms with responsibility for maintaining the company’s continued growth, success and efficiency.
Prior to this promotion, Mr. Ferry served as Managing Director at DDG, where he oversaw New York and Florida development.

A real estate industry veteran, Mr. Ferry began his career at the firm as Vice President at DDG in 2011 and over the years was subsequently promoted to Senior Vice President and Managing Director. In his previous roles, Mr. Ferry provided oversight for the firm’s residential development projects, including the 41 Bond in NoHo and 345meatpacking in the Meatpacking District, among others in New York and Florida.

Prior to joining DDG, Mr. Ferry served as a project manager at global real estate investment firm Hines, where his responsibilities spanned acquisitions, development and property management. He received a Master in Business Administration from Columbia Business School with concentrations in Real Estate and Finance, and a Bachelor of Arts from Bates College in Art History.
