Residential managers take the spotlight at REBNY seminar series

 
JOHN-BANKS-REBNY-WATCH-300x180Residential property managers and building operators will not want to miss REBNY’s new three-part seminar series offering unique insight from some of the city’s most experienced management professionals and firms. The new educational series, hosted by REBNY’s Residential Management Council, launches this week.

Each ninety-minute seminar in this spring series is free of charge for REBNY members and only $15 for non-members. All three events will be held at REBNY’s headquarters at Lexington Avenue and 51st Street.

The first seminar, this Thursday, April 6 at 8:30a.m., focuses on residential building compliance and will be hosted by Adam Batista, compliance manager at Rose Associates. Adam will explain city, state, and federal regulations relating to the required filings and inspections for boilers, elevators, facades, cooling towers, and water tanks.

Additionally, the discussion will cover mandatory benchmarking and energy audits, as well as the multiple dwelling registration process. Attendees will gain a better understanding of how to work with governmental agencies and ensure that filings and inspections comply with the law. This seminar will take place in the Mendik Education Center on the lower level of 570 Lexington Avenue.

The second installment, on Tuesday, April 18at 8:30 a.m., will explore residential property insurance and will be led by Ben Kirschenbaum, vice president and general counsel of FirstService Residential. Ben will discuss essential elements of property insurance coverage for multi-family managed properties, along with an overview of general liability insurance and additional policies that may be outside the scope of typical property insurance.

Ben will also delve into the various insurance policies that managed properties should consider when working with insured contractors, as well as the kinds of coverage or agreements that management companies should consider with regard to alteration work at their buildings. This seminar will take place in the Harry B. Helmsley Boardroom on the second floor of 570 Lexington Avenue.

The third topic in the series, on Thursday, May 18 at 8:30 a.m., will tackle residential property budgeting and will be hosted by Bill Brake, vice president of Related Companies. Bill’s discussion will focus on strategies for healthy financial management of residential buildings, which can pave the way toward capital improvements or building alteration projects. He will also talk about how to create an annual operating budget based on mortgages and expenses at this Seminar to be held in the Mendik Education Center on the lower level of 570 Lexington Avenue.

The final leg of the series on Tuesday, May 30th at 8:30 a.m. will revisit residential building compliance with further insight and expertise from Adam Batista of Rose Associates. This seminar, a continuation of the April 6th compliance seminar, will also be held in the Mendik Education Center on the lower level of 570 Lexington Avenue.
