SL Green Realty Corp announced that Rakuten USA, Inc., a Tokyo-based global internet services company, has signed a 10+-year extension lease at 215 Park Avenue South.
The e-commerce innovator’s lease covers 17,255 s/f, the entire second floor of the 20-story tower located in the midtown south market.
“We are delighted that Rakuten elected to remain at the building as one of our premier tenants,” said Steven Durels, executive vice president, director of leasing and real property for SL Green.
Durels noted that the landlord is about to commence an extensive lobby renovation which follows last year’s installation of new elevator cabs and mechanicals. Other tenants at the building include architects Perkins & Will, Global Strategy Group and The Criterion Collection.
Michael Brucato and Brian Hay of CBRE acted on behalf of Rakuten in negotiating the extension, while Howard Tenenbaum and Gary Rosen represented the landlord.
