Citi Habitats agent Jay Molishever helped turn renters into buyers, but took some patience and tenacity to make his clients’ dream of home ownership come true.
The young parents of a 15-month-old son were renting in TriBeCa but wanted a home in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.
Molishever and his clients were outbid on several properties, so when he found a two bedroom co-op at 590 Henry Street with beautiful finishes and magnificent views, he knew they needed to be be aggressive.
Said Molishever, “We toured the listing on Friday. I advised not making a bid until after open house was held on Sunday. When I called the listing agent on Monday morning, she said there was a contract that had been out — but the potential buyer was dragging their feet.
“When I told my client, he asked me to submit an offer $25,000 higher than the $775,000 asking price. The sellers’ agent called back that evening and said if we could have the contract signed by Thursday, the place was theirs.
“My clients are thrilled their son will grow up there — and to top it off, their monthly cost of owning is significantly lower than what they were paying in rent.ˮ
The unit sold for $800,000 after four weeks on the market. Immacolata Giocoli of Douglas Elliman represented the seller.
