Stribling re-launches Chelsea office

The historic office has a modern new look.

Stribling & Associates’ Chelsea office, one of the country’s longest-running real estate offices, has reopened its doors after an extensive year-long renovation.

Located on 23rd Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues, the office incorporates James N. Wells’ Sons, which was opened in 1819 and merged with Stribling & Associates in 1989. The historic brownstone office has been upgraded with state-of-the-art technological upgrades and a creative neighborhood art partnership.

“As Stribling grows, we are constantly improving both our outside appearance with new branding efforts as well as our infrastructure with the best technology,” said Elizabeth Ann Kivlan, president of Stribling & Associates. “This office is important to the history of our firm, and to see it evolve again is very rewarding.”

The new office was designed by Brockschmidt & Coleman, LLC in conjunction with MGA Architecture, who took cues from the neighborhood to integrate with the office, just as they did with their recent design of the firm’s new Brooklyn office. The designers made a concerted effort to preserve the interesting architectural features while still keeping a little nostalgia, such as old photos of the neighborhood that have been in the space for decades and an original vault door in the conference room.

The renovation, maintaining the 20-foot ceilings withwhite walls, will pay homage to the galleries in the area, with an entrance display featuring a changing array of pieces by local artists, facilitated by a partnership with Aperture Gallery on 27th Street. Aperture, a not-for-profit foundation, was created in 1952 by photographers and writers as “common ground for the advancement of photography.” The multi-level space covers 3,500 s/f and will increase the number of brokers by as many as 50 percent.

“With Stribling’s beautiful new logo looking down at us from the wall, we’re very happy to have completed these renovations and upgrades for our agents, in addition to paying tribute to the building’s history,” said Rebecca Mason, director of sales at Stribling’s Downtown offices in Chelsea and Tribeca.

In addition, the new development arm of the firm, Stribling Marketing Associates, has a full roster of upcoming development projects throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn.
