Eco-friendly East Village building about to open

10:59 am, March 29, 2012

The finishing touches are being put to an eco-friendly 10-unit apartment house at 532 East 5th Street.

532 East 5th Street

The project began as the restoration of a brownstone, but the structural integrity of the building made it cost prohibitive to save, so the complete removal of the building was necessary, according to George Christo, of DOORtoDOORrealty, the Staten Island-based development firm responsible for the site’s interior and exterior design features and amenities.
DOORtoDOOR was hired by Jakobson Properties, a no-fee rental property management firm, to ensure the property adds to, rather than detracts from, the neighborhood’s attractiveness and pride, according to Christo.
“We accomplished this by enriching the building with attractive design elements and green features.”
The energy-efficient building offers two-bedroom, 2-bathapartments with patios, gardens and balconies, high-efficiency hot water, LED lighting, thermostatically controlled heating and cooling, reclaimed solid oak flooring.

Once you have purchased a new swimming pool liner for your above ground pool, you will have to decide whether you are going to have the liner professionally installed or whether you will install it on your own. Keep in mind that installation may not be as easy as it looks and that the function and durability of your liner can be compromised if not installed properly. As a result, it’s often a good idea to carefully watch and observe a professional liner installation before attempting to carry one out on your own.

Above ground pools are certainly becoming the more popular choice in many areas for all of the above reasons and more. The ease and cost of installation make them the perfect pick for many homeowners.

Similar to Intex Easy Set Deluxe Pools, Intex Oval Frame Pools feature an inflatable top ring and an amazingly tough three ply liner. However, as is reflected by their name, these above ground pools are oval in shape, making them a great option for swimmers who want to be able to swim laps. With measurements of 12′ x 28′ by 48″, Intex Oval Frame above ground pools are also an excellent fit for narrow yards. While these Intexabove ground pools involve a similar installation and setup method to Easy Set Deluxe Pools, they also feature a heavy-duty, powder-coated galvanized frame which provides additional support.

The gunite pool is so popular because they offer extravagant options including flush or raised spas, grottos, beach entrances, zero-gravity entrances, and raised beams. Interior finishes include colored plasters, rock textures, pebble surfaces, and polished glass. Underwater lighting and in-floor cleaning systems are also offered. Consider including spillover, spas, rock waterfalls, interior finishes and colors, accent medallions, laminar jets, rain showers, sheer curtains, misters, lighting effects, and pool heaters.

Due to wear and tear, there will come when a time when a replacement of your pool liners becomes necessary. If the professional installation fee is negligible, have an experienced man install the pool liner.  But if you are a DIY enthusiast and can install the liners yourself, go ahead. Just make sure that you follow the instruction manual.
